Missouri Approaches 100,000 Job Creation

Gov. Matt Blunt visited Springfield’s Jordan Valley Innovation Center Saturday to announce more than 90,000 jobs that have been created in Missouri in just more than two years.

New employment figures show 93,000 jobs created since January 2005. About 10,800 of those new jobs came in March. During the month, several industries saw employment gains:

  • 3,500 new jobs in construction;
  • 2,400 new jobs in professional and business services;
  • 1,200 new jobs in retail trade;
  • 800 new jobs in wholesale trade;
  • 1,000 new jobs in financial activities; and
  • 800 new jobs in leisure and hospitality.
